Outlook in Cached mode WITH automatically attached shared mailboxes are NON-SEARCHABLE unless you manually add them in the advanced tab of the mailbox properties. Outlook in Online mode, or OWA, or ActiveSync all use Exchange's indexing service. Try rebuilding the local Indexing database. (note: he doesn't actually use the quotation marks in his search).Īny help with this would be appreciated.Outlook in Cached mode uses LOCAL indexing for searches.

Is there a configuration setting that needs to be changed? Or is Outlook 2016 different to how Outlook 2010 searches? If he searches for "from:andrew" the results then definitely appear on both systems. Yet if he browses to the date he sees in Outlook 2010, he can see the emails listed in 2016. However, Outlook 2016 on the new laptop doesn't and is often missing entire email trails in the search results. If I try and search in Outlook I get the message "Search results might be incomplete because items are being indexed" so I guess I will leave things running and see if search capabilities come back.Īdditionally - I did just run scanpst against my ost file and it told me it had errors which it repaired - this is interesting because I made a whole new profile only yesterday but I guess I'll wait for the indexing to complete and see where I am at.One of our users has just been upgraded to Office 2016, but is running into the issue where his search results aren't matching the search results of his old laptop running Office 2010.įor example, he will search for "from:and" and Outlook 2010 will display all the correct results. When that completed I went Control Panel - Indexing Options and rebuilt my search index again, for the first time that took hours and in fact it may still be running. Out of frustration, last night I did an online repair of my entire Office 2016 suite. Go over the thread again just to make sure I didn't miss anything.
#Office 2016 outlook search not working windows 10
I took a look at the thread you suggested but didn't find an obvious solution to my issue in it, it seems that in Windows 10 the indexing options screen functions a little differently and I am not able to expand Outlook and see the mailboxes under it. Thanks issue appears to be client side, affecting just myself - I've checked with co-workers using different Outlook versions (2010/2013/2016) all connecting the same Exchange environment and they confirm no issue with searching. One step 5 everything seemed to be re-indexed with the process taking maybe an hour to complete but I still cannot search for items or use the Find Related searches from within the right-click menu.ĭoes anyone have a suggestion on what I might try next. It tells me the index has completed after only a few seconds but still no search.Ģ) Removal / adding of MS Outlook as a location to indexįile - Options - Search - Indexing Options - Modify - Uncheck Outlook - OKįile - Options - Search - Indexing Options - Modify - Check Outlook - OKģ) Turn off then back on Cached Exchange Modelįile - Account Settings - Change Email Account uncheck box - Restart Outlookįile - Account Settings - Change Email Account Check box - Restart OutlookĤ) Delete OST file from AppData, allowing Outlook to create a new one.ĥ) Delete Mail Profile, allowing Outlook to create a new one.
